The little book of big projects
£8.10
This book takes child-friendly themes and suggests ideas for turning these into large-scale collaborative projects with real impact.
By: Mariette Heaney
The ideas are starting points and the emphasis is on problem solving, collaboration and thinking skills rather than the end product, although photos of already completed projects help to inspire along the way! The suggestions in the book allow for 'children to use talk to organise, sequence and clarify thinking and ideas and ask questions about why things happen and how things work.' EYFS 2007
Mariette Heaney worked as a primary school teacher for 13 years until September 2007 when she began working in the Foundation stage. She has recently had an article published in the Refocus Journal (Spring 2009, Issue eight) called ''What's the problem, guys?'' which looks at supporting children's development when resolving conflicts and is based on her Nursery's experiences with conflict resolution.
